Maintence

Placing barrels outside for décor is great but like any piece of valuable furniture they must be maintained with care.  Barrels are meant to hold liquid and there fore need to be watered and kept moist in order for them to maintain their shape and from keeping the rings from getting loose.  Any time you purchase a barrel from King Barrel we reinforce the rings with self tapping screws.  However with time and sun exposure the wood will shrink and the barrel will start to look fragile and loose.  By watering the barrel this helps the staves to swell and keep its shape.  We also recommend treating with outside wood treatments that can be found at your local and major hardware stores.  If you ever have questions we are always happy to answer any questions you may have for the care of your barrel.
